Travel to the Borghese Gallery

The gallery is inside Villa Borghese park at Piazzale Scipione Borghese, 5. Allow extra travel time — the park is large and the gallery is a short walk from the gates. See the transport section below.

Arrive at the Main Entrance — 15 Minutes Early

There is one main entrance used by all visitors regardless of ticket type. Arrive at least 15 minutes before your time slot. Visitors with priority access can walk past the queue and enter directly.

The Borghese Gallery is housed inside Villa Borghese, a historic villa surrounded by one of Rome's most beautiful parks. There is one main entrance for all visitors — no separate lanes for different ticket types.

Visitors with priority access tickets can walk past the queue and enter directly. Make sure you are at the entrance, not just inside the park gates — the walk through the gardens takes several minutes.

The Borghese Gallery enforces a strict visit duration. Most slots allow 2 hours. The 5:45 PM slot lasts 1 hour and 15 minutes. You will be asked to leave when your time slot ends regardless of where you are in the gallery. Plan your visit accordingly.

The gallery is inside a large park — allow extra time for the walk from the park gates to the entrance. Being late may mean missing your entry slot, as the gallery operates strict timed sessions.

By Bus
Lines 61, 160, 117, 119, 120, 150, 490, 495, 590, 628 and C3. Get off at Pinciana/Museo Borghese — the closest stop, just a few metres from the gallery. This is also one of the most scenic routes through the Borghese Gardens.

Take Line A and exit at Flaminio station. From there, walk through the park or take a short bus ride to the gallery (approximately 15–20 minutes on foot through the gardens).

Paid street parking (blue lines) is available on Via Pinciana and nearby streets. Note: only authorised vehicles are permitted to enter and park inside Villa Borghese. Rome's ZTL restricted traffic zones apply in many surrounding areas — check before driving.

Closest Park Entrance
The closest Villa Borghese entrance to the gallery is on Via Pinciana, where the bus stop Pinciana/Museo Borghese is also located. Other entrances near Porta Pinciana and Piazza del Popolo are also commonly used — follow signs to the gallery once inside the park.

Only small pouches and handbags (max 21 × 15 cm) are permitted inside the exhibition rooms. All bags larger than 21 × 15 cm — including backpacks, shopping bags, handbags, and luggage — must be left in the cloakroom at the entrance. No exceptions. Luggage can be stored in the cloakroom only during your visit and as an exception — do not arrive with large suitcases if possible.

  • 📵 Turn off or mute your mobile phone. Speak quietly throughout the gallery.
  • No flash photography. Personal photography without flash is generally permitted.

  • 🚭 No smoking or vaping anywhere on the premises.
  • 👕 Appropriate clothing required. Shoulders and knees should be covered.
  • ⏱️ The timed visit limit is strictly enforced. Staff will ask you to leave when your slot ends (2 hours for most slots; 1 hour 15 minutes for the 5:45 PM slot).

All visitors must pass through security screening at the entrance. Allow extra time, especially during peak hours. Large bags will be directed to the cloakroom before security.

Ticket Information

    Fixed date and time. Your ticket is valid only for the specific date and time slot booked. No changes are possible after confirmation.

    No re-entry. Your ticket grants a single 2-hour entry only. You cannot re-enter once you leave.

    Advance booking is mandatory. Only 180 people can enter per time slot. The gallery almost never has walk-in availability. Your pre-booked ticket guarantees your entry.
  • 🚶
    No physical guide included. Your booking includes the PopGuide audio guide (sent separately by email and WhatsApp). A human guide is not included unless you booked a guided tour.
  • Wheelchair accessible. The gallery has a dedicated back entrance for visitors with mobility needs. See the accessibility section below.

Accessibility

The Borghese Gallery is wheelchair friendly. However, because the main entrance has steps, there is a special accessible entrance at the back of the building for visitors with mobility needs.

To use the accessible entrance, you will need to either send someone inside to notify staff, or call the gallery by mobile phone from outside to have a staff member open the back door for you.
